Non-Lethal Pepper Spray
Pepper spray training
- Understanding OC Spray: Participants learn about the active ingredients, different spray patterns (e.g., stream, fog, gel), and the physical effects on an assailant (intense burning, temporary blindness, respiratory distress).
- Proper Handling and Deployment: Training emphasizes correct grip, stance, aiming techniques (targeting the eyes/face), and maintaining a safe distance to maximize effectiveness and minimize self-exposure or risks to bystanders.
- Situational Awareness and De-escalation: Courses teach how to recognize potential threats, use verbal warnings, and make sound, lawful decisions under pressure, including when the use of force is justified and appropriate.
- Legal Considerations: A critical component is understanding the specific federal, state, and local laws and restrictions regarding the possession, carry, and use of pepper spray to avoid legal issues.
- Decontamination and Aftercare: Participants learn immediate first-aid and decontamination procedures, such as using cool water or specialized soap to treat exposure, and the importance of monitoring affected individuals for adverse reactions.
- Practical Drills: Hands-on training often uses inert, water-filled practice canisters to build muscle memory and confidence in deployment techniques. Law enforcement and military training often include a controlled exposure to the actual spray to experience its effects firsthand and learn to fight through incapacitation.
Upon successful completion, individuals often receive a certification
There is NO exposure to live OC spray.
Topics Covered
- What (pepper) spray?
- Different spray patterns
- Texas law regarding carry and use
- Methods of carry
- Deployment of OC
Active Shooter
Active shooter training programs provide civilians, law enforcement, and organizations with strategies and skills to prevent, prepare for, and respond to active shooter incidents. The core principle for civilians is the "Run, Hide, Fight" strategy. This is an Option base active shooter response program designed to prepare all for Violent Critical Incidents (VCIs). During this training individuals should assess their situation and use proactive strategies based on real-time information, rather than waiting for centralized instructions. The components are options, not a required sequence of steps.
Topics Covered
Federal agencies like the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security recommend the following response strategy for civilians in an active shooter situation:
- Alert
- Lockdown
- Inform
- Counter
- Evacuation
Or add subheadings to create an overview
CPR/AED
CPR/AED training teaches the lifesaving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to respond to a cardiac emergency. The goal is to provide immediate care to a person whose heart has stopped beating, effectively doubling or tripling their chance of survival until professional medical personnel arrive.
What you will Learn
- CPR: Chest compressions and rescue breaths to keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and organs.
- AED Use: How to use a portable device that analyzes heart rhythm and delivers an electric shock if needed, with voice/visual prompts.
- First Aid: Recognizing and caring for various emergencies like burns, cuts, sudden illness, and injuries.
Topics Covered
CPR/AED courses, typically offered by organizations like the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association, cover the following:
- Recognizing Emergencies: Students learn to identify the signs of sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, or stroke, and to check the scene for safety and the victim for responsiveness.
- Performing CPR: This involves hands-on training for performing chest compressions and rescue breaths to manually circulate blood and oxygen to vital organs. The training covers techniques for adults, children, and infants.
- Using an AED: Participants learn the proper steps for using an AED, a portable device that analyzes the heart's rhythm and delivers an electric shock (defibrillation) if needed to restore a normal heartbeat. The device provides clear audio and visual instructions for ease of use by laypersons.
- Choking and First Aid Basics: Many courses also incorporate essential first aid skills, such as how to help a choking victim, basic injury response, and managing environmental or medical emergencies.
Why It's Important
- Saves Lives: Increases survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest, as emergency response can take minutes.
- Empowers You: Builds confidence to act in emergencies.
- Meets Requirements: Provides OSHA-compliant certification for jobs or personal preparedness.
Stop The Bleed
Stop the Bleed training is a national, hands-on program that teaches bystanders how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and apply immediate, life-saving techniques like direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquet application until professional medical help arrives, empowering ordinary citizens to act as first responders in emergencies like accidents or violence. Developed from battlefield lessons, it equips people to control severe blood loss, which can happen in minutes, making them capable of making a critical difference in saving lives
Topics Covered
Key aspects of the training:
- Empowerment: Teaches you to overcome hesitation and act effectively in bleeding emergencies.
- Core Skills: Focuses on three main techniques: applying direct pressure, packing a wound, and using a tourniquet.
- Broad Applicability: Skills are useful for various incidents, from car crashes and falls to active shooter events.
- National Campaign: Supported by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- Lifesaving Goal: Aims to reduce preventable deaths from blood loss by training the public to be the first line of care.
What You Learn
- How to identify severe bleeding.
- How to use your hands to apply pressure.
- How to pack a deep wound.
- How to apply a tourniquet.
Upon Completion will be presented with American Red Cross Certificate - If student requires a American Red Cross Card - $40 of the class cost goes to the American Red Cross.
